Ümit Ali Esinler Retrospective Exhibition & Book Presentation
23 September - 12 October 2019
SOL exhibition Gallery - Nicosia
EMU 2019-2020 academic year opening exhibition was held with the retrospective exhibition and book presentation of photographer Ümit Ali Esinler, who has an important place in the Turkish Cypriot community. On Monday, September 23, the exhibition opened at the Sol exhibition hall, which also featured a book written by Kadir Kaba and Zehra Şonya.
Ümit Ali Esinler, who started his photography adventure at the age of 8 in 1940s, is a photography professional with unique qualities, the most important of which is modesty both in his artistic practices and life. He was not a show person but had high qualities, shared his accumulation and only followed the path he believed. His struggle in photography was the outcome of this unique identity.
His passion for light must be a source of success in black and white photography practices. The identity resolutions that he captured in his portraits give clues as to how he has absorbed the opposite theme in terms of content. Reflecting his views on social and political events in his photography, Esinler also introduced the concepts of criticism and irony into his art.
The exhibition will be open from 10:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 14:00 on Saturdays until October 12th
